Yeah, i think it is suspicous too. And the fact that that one guy, tom's left hand is crippled...I think he didn't call a doctor because he was too busy beating her up!
obviously its suspicious Aticus pointed that exact thing out specifically.
And when he saw Tom he came up with the perfect way to cover up what he was doing.
Also, everyone in the town knows how the Ewells are. If it wasn't a black man on trial, they wouldn't even doubt the defendant's morality.
Of course Tom didn't do it. Atticus knows the truth in his heart and wants to defend Tom to the end. I knew that as soon as the sheriif testified that Atticus had an idea.
maybe tom saw or heard something that he wasnt supposed to so they are blaming him and maybe thats why they didnt go get the doctor because she wasnt really beaten up
Maybe the father was too busy beating her to call a doctor. Maybe she likes Tom.
i agree duck lips.
i believe tom may have heard or saw something and that the Ewells wanted to make sure that he would keep quiet, so they decided to make a mischievious plan to get him sent to jail.
but then again that would lead to Mr. Ewell being the one beating his daughter, why would a concerned parent do that. its not right. its not fair to her either.
