I'm really confused.

Yeah it hacks me when the titles have nothing to do with the book. or has the title been mentioned in the book? anyone... anyone....

SPOILER
Atticus mentions them when he talks about when he got a gun. He said that it was a sin to kill a mockingbird because they never really hurt anyone, (which seems to be contrary to your case).

okay...that was way to confusing bookworm. haha

No it definately has not. This book is a clasic and all my life when someone mentions it, i want to know either how one goes about "whacking" the annoyimg songbird. Or What on earth does a mockingbird's death have to do with the radley's and maycomb county? This book has some loose ends that are really strating to annoy me.

Yes it will come up, just be patient. A title can relate to something that happens at the very end of the book. And I highly doubt that you have a mockingbird outside your window. They don't live in Missouri during the winter

I am confused as well. You really shouldn't post unneccessary things- and I am positive that this falls under that catagory. Please think before you write things.

seriously...who knows that!?!?

Pocahontas said...

who freakin knows where mockingbirds live in what season.

samoanlove said...

actually i have a pet mockingbird.

Pocahontas said...

so do i. and it does sit outside my window.

Holy Mary said...

well im thinking of getting a pet cannary. How do you like having birds as pets guys?

The book is not about killing mockingbirds! It is only mentioned like three times throughout the book, ****SPOILER****
and is realted to an important event in the end to help make sense of it.

Princess said...

Well, just use some common sense, what songbird chooses to live in a cold climate.

Auquamarine~ said...

Okay, this is getting a bit ridiculous. Please, can you act a bit more mature? We are in the tenth grade...

Please at least try to stay on topic.

bookworm said...

Lets not get into a convo. about staying on topic.

maturity is a vertue i do not choose to possesse

Pocahontas said...

maturity is a common phrase used by those who refuse to expand the horizon of their natural enthusiasm in every day life. talk about smarty pants.

I'm just going to say that this is not the only post on here. But, truely we need to stay focused. If mrs. schreffler is goingo to let us tdo something this laid back and fun, we should not be abusing it.

you guys, the title most of the time tends to have a bigger meaning to it. when you actually take the time to think about it.
and just wait and keep reading. you will get your answer.

all bow to pocahontest

Pocahontas said...

i agree. peace out. i'm done.

I'm sorry if you don't choose to posess maturity but this is an honors class so for now you can at least pretend!

Now please, try to actually talk about the book.

Alright, this is not Facebook, or Myspace, or your phone. This is an Honors English blog based off of a book. It's an assignment, and you should start treating it as such.

samoanlove said...

i agree . so how do you guys like the book?

Lonelywolf10 said...

That would be a nice change. I would like to have an intelligent conversation with someone here.

bookworm said...

The book is very stimulating in the vocab department. Scout seems to be quite intelligent.

I'm a bit farther in the book than we are supposed to be, but it is not my cup of tea. I hope it gets better.

Geez! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has wondered this. Mockingbirds don't live here in the winter??? Please, come hang out by my bedroom window and you will beg to differ...besides...it is not winter yet...it is only fall. So, back to the point of this post, the title is kind of ticking me off too. I mean, think about the book "Holes." The whole book is about digging holes...the cover is filled with them. And who could forget the classic: "The Night Before Christmas" That is exactly what it is about!!! The kids hang their stockings, Santa Clause comes, they settle down for a long winters nap...totally the night before Christmas! However, this book...not at all! There are some little kids in a hick town, creepy people named the Radleys next door, a strange father named Atticus, and a mean school teacher named Miss Caroline. In what way, shape, or form does this have anything to do with killing a mockingbird????? While I know some of you say that it may be found at the end of the book...I have my doubts. And even though you insist we stay on topic, this is a topic, that in my opinion, had to be addressed, and quite frankly...Holy Mary...WAY TO BE!!! My heart is now complete that someone has expressed the concerns of many...although it would be more than complete if I would know how to kill those mockingbirds!
