Remember When..

Okay.
Now that we have gotten farther into the book we can't all say that the book is boring, or confusing for that matter. I mean really, I find it interesting because I relate to it. Not the time period or the events that happen but simply the way of life. Do you remember when it was all fun and games and our biggest trials were trying to find a decent game to play? I miss those days and I like this book for allowing me to remember those.

I think you have a very good point there. When I was little I used to play games with the boys just like Scout. I used to be the one told not to tell my dad what we did that day.
Ahh...good times...good times.

Yes! My point exactly.

I agree. This story has a playful innocence that we can all relate to. It's more fun than writing from adults' perspectives.

True true! When i was little all I ever did was play with the boys because they always had better games. I remember those good ol' days. Now all we worry about is who is going out with who and who is breaking up ;)

This isn't about the playing games with boys, but other aspects of a way of life. All the quirky little details about people that the Maycomb County folks would know. Those can kind of relate to Branson. There are somethings that everybody just knows.

I used to have a lot of friends when I was in first grade but now people have "out grown" me or worry about having a "reputation" or whatever stupid reasons they have.

So what's the point? Harper Lee is setting the reader up to see how injustice can CRUSH the innocence of childhood! Just wait and see! Do you remember the first time you realized life wasn't all fun and games?

Oh Mylanta Princess exactly.
I mean sure it was fun having no inhibitions about playing with the boys but the way of life was so much more peaceful. Don't you miss it?
